Limnophila (plant)

Limnophila is a genus of about 40^[1] species of aquatic plant and plants that grow in wet areas. They are native to Africa, Asia, Australia, and Pacific islands, in tropical to subtropical areas.^[1]

The submerged leaves resemble those of Cabomba, an unrelated aquatic plant.^[2]

Species

Species include:

• Limnophila aromatica, native to Asia^[3] and commonly used in cooking.
• Limnophila aquatica, an aquarium plant.
• Limnophila sessiliflora, a common aquarium plant. Native to many parts of Asia (including India, China, Japan, and Vietnam).^[4]
